Lauren Carboni is a partner in Foley Hoag's Healthcare Department, based in the firm's Denver office. She advises healthcare providers and life sciences companies on regulatory compliance, enforcement defense, and litigation, including proactive compliance program design and government investigation response.
Lauren has extensive experience representing hospitals, physician groups, behavioral health providers, and other healthcare organizations in matters involving the Anti-Kickback Statute, Stark Law, and the False Claims Act. She regularly handles internal investigations, regulatory risk assessments, healthcare regulatory due diligence on transactions, administrative appeals before federal and state enforcement agencies, and response to state board investigations.
Lauren also advises clients in the emerging regulated psychedelics and cannabis industries on licensing, regulatory compliance, and business operations. She serves in a national leadership role as co-steward of the Legalization and Regulation Committee of the Psychedelic Bar Association, which lies at the intersection of healthcare regulation and emerging therapeutic modalities.
