Brian is the co-Founder and Managing Partner of SSC Advisors (SSC). SSC advises leading companies in the cannabis space, primarily with respect to strategy, M&A, restructuring, debt placements and exit strategies. SSC represents many of the larger public multi-state-operators (MSO’s) in the cannabis space as well as emerging private single and multi-state operators, brands, and cannabis lenders/lessors. SSC is active in both North America and the European Union. Brian also serves on various public and private boards and fund advisory boards.

Brian previously served as Executive Vice President - Finance of Grassroots Cannabis (Grassroots). While at Grassroots, Brian focused on finance, strategy, capital markets, investor relations and mergers & acquisitions. During his tenure at Grassroots, Brian was responsible for raising in excess of $200mm of capital comprised of equity, convertible notes, and various sale/leaseback financings. In July 2020, Grassroots merged with Curaleaf Holdings (ticker: CURLF) in a cash + stock transaction valued at roughly $850mm. Brian was directly involved in all aspects of negotiating and closing the merger, which at the time was the largest M&A transaction in the history of US cannabis.

Prior to venturing into cannabis in 2017, Brian spent over 20 years in investment management, primarily investing in fixed income and equity assets via hedge funds, private equity and discretely managed funds. Brian served as a portfolio manager at Balyasny Asset Management, and previously served as the co-founder and Managing Partner of Wolf Point Capital Management. He also managed a series of distressed investing funds at PPM America and started his career at Continental Illinois National Bank. Early in his career, he held various roles in risk management, merchant banking, restructuring, real estate, and capital markets.
